Started a new painting and feeling the need to introduce text. I have no set plan just a couple of loose ideas. I haven’t really settled on a palette either! I going to photograph some areas which I’d print and add to my journal to mark this time exploring new territory.

I used to paint the sides of my panels as a continuation of the painting but I’m now playing around using a grey mix instead. When it’s dried it will be a shade or two darker so I’d reassess again!

Do you have any preference on the colours you use on the sides? I’d love to know!

Today I’ve been varnishing a painting on wood pa

Today I’ve been varnishing a painting on wood panel. Hard to photograph because of the glare so this is just a close up section.
I love how the colours pop once the final coat is applied.
I’ve used water soluble pencils in between layers of acrylic paint so there are many sprays of fixative before the final layers of varnish.
