I don’t often use yellow this saturated but I had left over paint from yesterday so I decided to use it up!

Day 26 of #mysketchbook practice.
Today I decided to try a bit of collage. I admire collage in other artist’s work but I’m yet to learn how it’s done in a way that makes it work in harmony with the other elements in the painting. Sometimes I’m left feeling like it looks like a piece of paper stuck on as an after thought! Anyway here’s my attempt for today’s practice.

It was nice and sunny this morning here in Scarbor

It was nice and sunny this morning here in Scarborough and I started today’s sketchbook practice with blues and yellows. It was only after I finished I realised that there are bits in this painting that reminds me of a lorikeet and flowers of a poui tree which brings back memories of the warmth in Australia and Trinidad where I spent most of my life. After working in my sketchbook for a number of weeks I am now looking forward to painting on a larger scale again. I like this palette but I know if this was a proper painting my next step would be to bring in some of that dark blue/purpley colour in a couple of areas and some wispy lines that are my must haves!
